H&M A/W 2012 Sneaks
How can I not get excited when I'm looking at a collection like this? Autumn/ Winter at H&M looks like a very luxe affair. The sportswear inspired trend continues, see baseball caps, varsity jackets and boxy tops albeit updated with lots of embellishments. Leather is big this season, and I'm loving the leather jackets, leather gloves and the very awesome leather peplum belt thingy, which I MUST have. And I am dying to get my hands on the digital printed pieces, which by the way, are my favourites so far.
Which is your favourite piece in H&M's A/W collection?

Anna Dello Russo for H&M
So word is out that Anna Dello Russo is designing a collection of accessories for H&M. This collection will feature jewellery, shoes, bag, sunglasses and a trolley (?) and will be available at H&M stores around the world on 4 October 2012.
If you have the ADR syndrome, i.e. obsessive love for all things bling, you're going to love this collection. Watch a video of ADR talking about the inspiration for her collection and check out her Accessories Bibliothèque (home) here.
'They make a great sound... that bling-bling sound, it's a great sound because it's a therapeutic sound' - ADR on jewellery.

On being conscious
H&M's latest Conscious Collection is just in time for Spring with florals, bright colours and gorgeous floor length gowns. The eco-friendly line has already been seen on various red carpets, and even on some local celebs at the recent Star Awards - which isn't surprising since the pieces boast high level of quality, design and construction.
In case you didn't know, H&M is a leader in sustainable design, and the world's biggest user of organic cotton. By 2020, the company aims to produce all of its cotton garments with sustainable resources. Now who says you can't wear beautiful and glamourous clothes and save the environment at the same time?
My choice from the collection - this floral top which doubles up a a jacket.

Pep it up
Here's my new peplum t-shirt from H&M. I love how its a peplum in jersey material - so versatile and modern; and I can't wait to wear it with so many other things in my wardrobe!
I would also like to introduce the latest addition to my shoe cabinet - a pair of River Island zebra sandals. The silver embellishments are my favourite and I like how the heels are silver plated too.

Pep up your wardrobe
The peplum style is back in vogue, and it has been reinvented and modernized from its 1940s counterpart. I'm already in love with the modern peplum - it's chic and oh so feminine. Here are some of my favourite peplum tops.

Swedish Powerhouse
If you haven't already heard, Swedish fashion giant H&M and Swedish fashion blogger Elin Kling have collaborated to create a collection. I have mad love for both - H&M being my favorite high street brand, and Elin Kling being one of my fashion idols for her effortlessly cool, laidback and sophisticated sense of style. Sadly, this collection will only be carried at H&M outlets in Sweden.
I wish someone would just fly me to Stockholm now, so I can see this collection and take in all its minimalistic and cool goodness. Yes, the collection is that awesome, and I have photographic evidence to prove that.

Rainy days
The incessant rain has affected my choice of clothing whenever I'm heading out these days. I'm either covered up in long-sleeves or piled up in knitwear. I hardly wear anything too exposed like that of my previous outfit because there's hardly any sun. My footwear of choice? Flip flops (for days when I'm lazy) or boots/ shoes that ensure that my feet stay dry.

MARNI at H&M
Just as everyone is recovering from the aftermath of Versace for H&M (by that I mean the damage on their purses and all the elbow-shoving from trying to get a piece of Versace heaven), H&M has just announced today that it will tie-up with MARNI for its Spring/Summer 2012 designer collaboration.
I can already hear the applause and shouts of joy from the millions of H&M fans who are probably thrilled with this news. Spring/Summer 2012 is the perfect time to tie-up with MARNI as fans can expect full-fledged tribal prints and Bauhaus graphics which are colourful and playful.
The collection will be launched on 8 March 2012. Mark that date on your calendar folks. I know I'm going to be in line for this one.

What a show
So this morning in Singapore or should I say last night in NYC, the Twittersphere was abuzz with tweets that read, 'Huge turnout of @HM and @Versace from NY fashion crowd: Joseph Altuzarra, Alex Wang, Sophie Theallet, Eddie Borgo and every major editor', 'Ke$ha, Blake Lively, Chace Crawford, Brian Atwood, Hamish Bowles @Hanneli, Amanda Hearst all @H&M/Versace Show (and lots we can't see)', 'Donatella says it's time to party'... and yes the list of tweets go on.
Sadly, I was on a crowded train, squashed amidst the morning traffic on my way to work. My sources tell me that over 500 special guests were invited to the show at a specially designed building on the Hudson River. It was a glamorous event in true Versace style with Prince and Nicky Minaj hitting the stage to perform at the after-party which was definitely not to be missed.
So while I'm here in Singapore wishing I could somehow teleport myself back in time and to this awesome party, I'll make do with this video which shows us what happened in NYC last night. Well, part of it anyway.

H&M's styling session with bloggers
H&M has always been teaming up with bloggers, and this collaboration with the opinion leaders of the Web sphere looks set to be a long term relationship.

Recently, H&M has just teamed up with 2 (or rather 3) bloggers from acclaimed UK fashion blogs WishWishWish and Yin and Yang, getting them to pick and style their favorite pieces from H&M's Divided range. Now, you can get your style fix from these short videos below that have been produced with these bloggers.
Carrie from WishWishWish who lives and studies in London, is a blogger who loves her head gear - she confesses that she's never seen without her hats! I like Carrie's quirky and cute style especially and the way she pairs socks or stockings with her outfit. Her bowler hat and sequinned beret definitely adds some interest to the outfit.

The Yin and Yang duo, Niran and Ernest, are both students studying Creative Advertising (sounds like a really cool course to be studying) at London's most prestigious art school, UAL. Their blog covers a mish-mash of things such as streetstyle, fashion, music and art, and now has become a lifestyle brand with a whole team of contributors. Look out for Niran's and Ernest's choice of shoes in the video which are really dope.

The new H&M girl
If you have read the novel, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, there'll probably be two things that you are anticipating this December. First, the premiere of this dark and exciting thriller, and second, the launch of H&M's Dragon Tattoo collection.
The anti-heroine from this Swedish mystery comes to life through this new women's collection that is set to hit the stores at H&M on December 14. Teaming up with Trish Summerville, one of Hollywood's leading costume designers who also happens to be the costume designer for the film, you can expect a collection with attitude. Inspired by Lisbeth Salander, There'll be nothing short of torn jeans and leather jackets and pieces which exude a dark and urban feeling.

You get what you want
I got my hands on this blue H&M top with a lovely peplum pattern and bell sleeves at H&M's opening day. It was also on my wishlist, so I was more than happy when I saw it on the racks at H&M. What I had in mind initially was to pair it with a pair of white pants, but I currently don't have one ( I know its time that I have a pair in my wardrobe), so I went with a pair of waisted shorts and bootie wedges.

Urban Jungle
It was love at first sight when I set my eyes on this silk blend dress/ jacket. This jacket and I were meant to be since it was the last piece left (in my size!) and had a '50% off' tag on it. Can't believe I still had to think twice about buying it. Thankfully, Fir convinced me to buy it, and I'm glad I listened to her.

Set on you: September
This September I've got my eyes set on...
1. The PS1 is in my opinion, the epitome of classic it-girl cool. Worn over the shoulder or carried by the handle, this covetable style will stamp every look with urban glamour.
2. Block heels are the way to go, and ASOS' PATIENCE peep toes with its suede look upper and bow details is subtly feminine.
3. Really, who needs gloves in Singapore's heat? But I adore this pair of leopard print gloves from H&M so much that I'd wear them regardless of the climate.
4. Topshop's ring reminds me of a sunken treasure at the bottom of the ocean. Don't you think the gold plated trimmings remind you of corals? And who knew that green stone, tortoise shell and gold could look so chic together?
5. Aficionados of directional style will love Kelly Wearstler's handcrafted brass bangle studded with bold pyrite cubes. Wear it solo or stacked with other tough-luxe pieces to inject everyday looks with utility cool. In case you didn't know, Kelly Wearstler is responsible for the iconic look of the Viceroy hotels, the author of three beloved books, and her incredible interior design work is feted in all the best magazines. This fall, she'll be bringing her unique, oft-emulated vision to the fashion world with her 80-piece ready-to-wear collection, all available at Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and Net-a-porter.

Get that Modern Classic with H&M: Part 1
Preppy dressing takes on a whole new meaning with H&M's new Modern Classics collection for men. Expect updated wardrobe essentials as suiting is in focus this season and vivid colours bring a fresh touch to matching cotton slacks or knitwear. Paired with crisp shirts, tweeds and flannels, the look is instantly classic and modern.
Who better to tell us how to style a modern classic look than Tom Stubbs, one of the most well-known menswear stylists who championed the return of the suit and that trend continues today?
According to Tom Stubbs, there is a new hunger for structure, dignity and tailoring, a departure from the slouchiness of the decade. This A/W 2011 will see pinstripes, tweed and three-piece-suits in a modern fit for the younger generation who want to sharpen their look whilst remaining trendy and chic.
Now all Singaporeans can enjoy and own such gorgeous pieces from H&M. As you have probably realised, Fal and I are over the moon that H&M is here.
Still unsure if you want to partake in the renaissance of the classics? Still afraid of wearing a suit and looking dated (like some uncle)? Spend the next 5 mins with Tom Stubbs and model Benj and you'll find that it isn't that difficult to update your look with H&M's new Modern Classics collection.
Inspired? We sure hope so. Watch this space for what we think about these styling tips. Till then, let's just say, enjoy H&M.

The hype: H&M Singapore
Today, H&M finally opened its doors in Singapore.
I braved the snaking queue, hot sun and afternoon showers to make it to its entrance at just 5 minutes short of an hour. H&M's PR efforts were commendable, as they gave away H&M magazines, mineral water and umbrellas (this was the smartest marketing tool in my opinion) to those who made an effort to queue.
And for the crowd's entertainment were models decked out in the season's hottest looks, literally, since some of the male models were in scarves, jackets and boots.
What awaited me at the end of all that queueing was 3 floors of fashion heaven. The clothes did not disappoint as it took me back to my shopping experiences at the H&M outlets around Europe. Most importantly, the clothes and accessories were all reasonably priced, with tees starting from $7.90 and necklaces and earrings starting from $3.90.

The crowd control was amazing as well since there was no mad frenzy and people grabbing away at clothes. It was all an orderly affair, a far cry from Uniqlo's opening in 2009. I apologize for not having a single photo of the interior since I was too focused on shopping.
Anyway, I managed to score some good buys, but more on that in another post. For now, I'm the happiest girl in Singapore because my all time favourite high street brand is finally here.
