Just can't get enough

It's been a month since Fal and I have returned and I miss being in Korea and Hong Kong. Here are some photos for me to relive happy times and for everyone else to hopefully enjoy.

Photobucket
Jeongbang waterfall. Gorgeous.

Photobucket
Along Gwangalli Beach. The night life here is awesome.

Photobucket
Fal getting in touch with nature. Literally. It was hilarious hiking over the huge rocks just to get closer to the falls. Excuse the sloppy dressing please, we were on holiday and going to a WATERFALL.

Photobucket
Adorable! This shoe is being worn by a teddy bear, at the Teddy Bear Museum, which had a ridiculous entrance fee, which we paid anyway to enter.

Photobucket
If only the whole of Korea had more of such English signs. Ordering food in Korea was always an amusing game of charades or pictionary that we played with the staff.

Photobucket
Not a yellow brick road to Oz. This is the wood lined pavement to Hallasan. (Halla mountain, and yes it is a mountain not the Bukit-Timah-hill sort of mountain)

Photobucket
This kid is definitely into the summer poncho. Taken at Haeundae Beach. So cute.

Photobucket
I have yet to find out what this translates into. Does anyone know?

Photobucket
I was impressed by the workmanship and the colours. Taken at the Beomeosa Temple.

Photobucket
A restaurant. Fried chicken and beer, yummy.

Photobucket
The other view from Victoria Peak (HK). Just turn your back on all the tourists furiously snapping thousands of pictures of the SAME HK night scene, walk straight to the other side of the balcony and look down. Voila.

Photobucket
I have to credit Fal and Clarissa for this photo. They successfully distracted the saleslady so I could snap this. The maze that is Dongdaemun is really a shopping heaven.

Photobucket
Macau. At sunset, as we made our way to the remains of the church at the end of the road. Oh how I love and miss the food in Hong Kong and Macau. The egg tarts, luncheon meat, char siew bao, dimsum and the desserts. My stash of almond biscuits and lao po bing is almost depleted.

Let's bring out the big ones

Before I begin, a big thank you to Fal for being the sole updater the past week. Fir is coming back to earth now. Just a quick update about one of my favourite places in Asia, Seoul. I've never been a Korean junkie but I have to say that Korean food has definitely won me over. The shopping was nothing short of awesome as Seoul promises quality and affordability in practically anything you purchase. I am highly particular about cheap clothes because they tend to be made of materials of inferior quality besides the fact that they usually don't fit well and the workmanship is deplorable. I managed to score some fabulous accessories to add to my collection of beads and baubles, big and small. I have to say my collection is tiny as compared to my Mom's treasure trove of stones, beads, chains, pearls, gems and bling. I am proud to say that I have contributed to that collection when we're out shopping and something (that I cannot afford) catches my eye, first word out of my mouth, "Mommy!" followed by, "Buy that! It's gorgeous!" then, "I can wear it too!". My access to that bank of goodies is however, extremely limited for good reasons which I shall not list here. In the meantime, here's my loot!

South Korea: Shopping

We're finally back from our summer getaway! Its been an adventurous 3 weeks, and the trip was nothing short of awesome. Of course, this came with heavy damages to our pockets, but it was totally worth it because shopping in South Korea (especially Seoul) was amazing.

Imagine this: a whole district of 7 storey malls with over 30 shops in one level open till 4.30am in the morning - this was what kept us awake in Seoul. And if you're going to Seoul, please pay this district, Dongdaemun, homage. Especially if you're a shopaholic.

Anyway onto some cool shops that I thought would be worthy of a mention.

Cabinet

Migliore Shopping Mall 2F, Dongdaemun, Seoul

We found this gem of a shop in Seoul on our first day there. And the reason why we love it is because this shop stocks one of a kind vintage finds. The best part is that prices are reasonable and will go easy on your wallet. Expect cool leather skirts and big blazers as well as dresses with kitschy prints. The shop owners were really sweet too and gave us a discount when we haggled with them!

Dress or Die

www.howandwhat.co.kr
Maxtyle Shopping Mall, 1F, Dongdaemun, Seoul

A shop carrying the wares of local Korean designers. Here you can get brands like howandwhat, Dress or Die, anTiCinderella and a whole lot of bags, accessories and shoes. I fell in love with the edgy bags, accessories and shoes here. There are quality designs here if you're willing to pay.
