Recuperation

Between an old job and a new one, I'm taking some time to recuperate. Soothing my burnt out mind and soul, finding inspiration I lost along the way, and just living life again (:

Here are some of the things that I've been up to.

Cooking up a storm
I've been in the kitchen a bit, trying out new recipes and putting my oven to full use. Its nice to get in touch with my culinary side, and I really miss cooking and baking every week - what I used to do nearly everyday when I was in Denmark!

Travelling
Just got back from a short getaway to Ho Chi Minh and it was a blast! Its always great to experience a totally different way of life in another country, and Ho Chi Minh is such a lively, vibrant city. From the crazy traffic, markets, cafes, architecture with French colonial influence and laid back backpacker's vibe in Pham Ngu Lao ward, awesomeeee.

Clearing my wardrobe (aka making space for new clothes!)
Yes, its time to make space for new things! My wardrobe is getting terribly messy, and its time to rid it of pieces that I can hardly fit into any longer. It's also time to ditch my corporate uniform.

To make space, I'll be selling pieces from my wardrobe, some of which are brand new! Here's a preview of what's up for sale! More pictures tomorrow, and I promise you crazy prices and great stuff.

New Hair

Languid, polished and relaxed are just a few words to describe hairstyles in 2012. At Jil Sander, "the most couture ponytail" was seen on the models. Hair was brushed backwards together with short, side parts and long blunt-cut extensions to create a done-up look and finished with spray to impart a "lacquered" effect.

At Burberry, the hairstylists "undressed" the hair rather than ramping it up. To create an effect of "a big blow dry come undone", damp tresses were prepped with thickening spray before diffusing heat throughout the lengths and breaking up the ends with fingers. A large curling iron added loose texture at random, while shine cream created additional separation and an expensive-looking sheen.

The rise of "skinny hair" continues at Proenza Schouler. 'Kate-Moss-like' hair was achieved by ensuring that each models' roots were flat and that there was a slight kink through the lengths, achieved by twisting two front sections and tucking them behind the ears.

There was a similarly subdued approach at Lanvin when the show's hair look was conceived. Simplicity was opted over elaborate structure, by taking the weight out of the back of the head and creating smooth strands with a light blow-dry. As a finishing touch, the front sections of hair was tucked behind models' ears for a slight bend.

2012 is also the year in which I get myself a new hairstyle. I chose to chop off my curly locks and opt for a blunt cut with long layers. Then I straightened my hair with soft rebonding to get a natural softness and relaxed look. I really like this new look because it is much fresher, and much easier to style.

It's a new year, and this haircut of course symbolizes something more than a new look. Chopping away my locks is a way of telling myself that its time to make way for new and better things.

Better late

So yes, its 4 days into the new year - how has 2012 been panning out for you so far? Fir and myself sincerely apologize for not wishing everyone a Happy new year earlier, but here it is anyway,

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

2011 has been a roller coaster for us with so many changes in our lives - crossing paths with so many new people, making new friends and trying out new things. But there's really no time to look back because we're looking ahead to 2012, we hope you are too.

For now, we hope you'll keep checking back, and we'll try to be less tardy in our posting!
