Finding my way

Are there periods in your life where you feel completely uninspired and out of touch with yourself? I think I'm right smack in the middle of one of these phases. Maybe it's work, and all the stress that I've been trying to cope with. I simply have no time for anything else, and no time to replenish my waning fashion appetite.

I want to get back on track again. I want to be able to have the time to photograph, to study fashion, to live, breathe and enjoy all of these things that make me feel more whole. I hope that time will come soon.

Little Miss Polished

I'm sure everyone has a style muse, and mine happens to be the very chic Olivia Palermo. Whenever I'm in need of a quick fashion fix or just some inspiration for my outfits, she's the one that I turn to. She first caught my eye when I saw her on the reality MTV series 'The City', and even though she played the role of the villainous backstabber, I couldn't help but be drawn to her great sense of style.

She's the epitome of impeccable in every way - she never seems to have a strand of hair that is out of place, her make up is flawless, and she's always flashing her megawatt smile. Then of course there's her clothes. Known for pairing designer pieces with high street finds, and combining textures, colours and trends together perfectly, I can't help but feel that she was born with a flair for styling. And while she's always fashion forward, there's always something very 'Olivia' about her outfit.

Of course, I've really come to find myself in having her as my muse. My love for simplicity and sophistication, and staying true to my inner feminine self, amongst the raccoon eyed, grunge rock, ripped sweater, leather skirt, chain and stud donning girls that have come to dominate the fashion scene in the recent years. True, I've been through that phase, but I've always come back one full circle to pick out pieces that I think Miss Palermo would approve of. So its great that there's someone I can really relate to and look up to.

I'll leave you to decide what you think about her style with a link to the Vogue site, which showed what she wore for one month.

Mom's closet

Happy Mother's Day to all the mommies out there!

One day isn't enough to thank my mom for her sacrifices, blood sweat and tears. No doubt she drives me insane sometimes, take yesterday for example, where we witnessed a 'political landmark' and where media framing was done to perfection. My mom's staunch sentiment for the ruling (and marginally victorious) party made her so intolerable and absolutely impossible to reason with, and her demeanor was laced with repeated masked attacks at me for being part of the 'footloose generation' who has not lived through enough hardship to understand what a darling the PAP is. I am not denying that the PAP has done a wonderful and commendable job (wonderful and commendable sound so 'gahmen') but I am entitled to an opinion and my opinion just happens to be different.

That said and insanity aside, it is still a day for us to appreciate the gift that is our mothers, to accept them for who they are as they have accepted us for who we are and to thank them for well... our very existence. For the occasion, I decided to take a trip down memory lane, into my mommy's closet and managed to unearth some gems. Flared printed pants, a pleated maxi skirt and tailored shift dresses were some cool pieces I found.

Once again, thanks and I love you mommy! through thick and thin, ups and downs, ins and outs, in sickness and in health.

This week's loot

So this week's loot is pretty backdated, but I can't help flaunting one of my favorite dresses I bought for Chinese New Year this year. Its from ASOS, and I love the fabric which reminds me of a rich and royal brocade. Love the lace up details on the dress as well. More updates soon!
