Meet Chloe

Say hi to Chloe, my too-cool-for-school fashionista! We've known each other for about a year now and her outfits never fail to impress. I convinced her to let me snap a photo of her during our 10 minute break in the middle of class. My apologies for the dinghy lighting and uninspiring background.

Well. It's school after all, a space that is all about structure and citations, an arena for voicing out your opinions which doesn't change things anyway, an information bank stuffed to the brim with wads of notes about all the things that other people want you to learn so that these very people can test and examine you, thereby determining your intelligence and your value as an employee not of a company but as an employee of the state where you will then be sucked into the vicious cycle of capitalism which reproduces itself in the rhetoric of progress and ever increasing growth. Plus, you never determine your own self-worth, you are only worth the value that has been placed on you by the party that is in the position to judge you. This is how miserable life can be and this is precisely why frivolity makes sense. Why not engage in the frivolity of everyday life that is in food and fashion where you at least exercise some control in deciding what you want to eat or wear. No?

Let's say hello again to Chloe!

I applaud and admire the way she throws her outfits together and achieves that effortless cool as a cucumber look, every day. Look out for more outfits from Chloe! You can find out more about Chloe at http://chloeolhchloe.tumblr.com/. I shall leave you with wise words uttered by Chloe herself, "At the rate I'm going, I should just quite school."

New York Fashion Week A/W 2011 - 12: Proenza Schouler RTW

"Clothing that took direction from Native American blankets – we also researched early American textiles and construction and included elements of both in our designs, but with a modern edge." - Designer McCollough on his collection.

New York Fashion Week A/W 2011 - 12: Marchesa RTW

'Think gothic bride as Marchesa retains its vision of baroque eveningwear combined with strange and twisted imperfection... theatrical ruffles, dramatic beading and wedding dress contours fused with frayed, jagged hems, with a tattered character."

Not so Bo-Ring Anymore

I usually like to keep embellishments on my fingers to a minimum, so my hands usually look really sparse. However, I've recently developed a fetish for rings and I've managed to expand my tiny ring collection by six new rings, over the course of two weeks. It's a lot of rings by my standards, just in case you were wondering. Anyway, I'm really happy with every single buy that I've made, and here's a preview of the latest additions to my ring collection.

From left to right: A Vivienne Westwood logo inspired ring which I snagged for only $4 at Far East Plaza, Shield ring at $3(!) from Far East Plaza, Diamante ring from Accessorize

From left to right: Jaguar/ gargoyle ring from Accessorize, Minimalistic cigarette- like ring from Diva, Leaf double finger ring from ASOS

The Grammys 2011 Red Carpet Report

Judging by what the stars wore to the Grammys this year, they definitely looked like they were out to party with many of them decked out in glamorous outfits. There were many eclectic red carpet choices as well, by that, I do not mean Lady Gaga's egg accessory.

Jennifer Lopez lead the pack of party animals, I mean stars, in a va-va voom metallic dress by Emilio Pucci. Other followers included Heidi Klum in a gold Julien Macdonald number that showed skin in all the right places, and 'Glee' star Naya Rivera in a fun and flirty silver dress. It definitely seemed like metallic dresses was the top choice for most stars that night.

Then there were the eclectic choices, such as the Givenchy Couture dress worn by Florence Welch, a lavender dress by Tadashi Shoji as seen on Kelly Osbourne, as well as a monochromatic ruffle dress by Ashi that was worn by Eva Longoria.

Other stars proved that they were all ready for Spring. Julianne Hough, Ryan Seacrest's current squeeze, showed up in a vibrant Malandrino dress while Natasha Bedingfield walked the red carpet in a blue floral embroidered dress.

Once again, the 2011 Grammys did not disappoint with the array of stars that sauntered down the red carpet in their fashion worthy choices.
